Lincoln National has made changes to their underwriting restrictions for life insurance policies put in place at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Effective May 10, 2021, Lincoln National is returning to pre-Covid underwriting standards with some exceptions. It is important to note that Lincoln will not ask about vaccination status, and it does not play a role in their final decision in the underwriting process.

Types of cases Lincoln will still postpone for include:

  • If you medically qualify for a substandard table 5 health risk class rating or higher (at any age), Lincoln National will postpone approving coverage at this time.
  • Lincoln is still not taking any life insurance applications for persons who are over age 80.
  • If a person’s application is assigned a flat extra charge of greater than $10 per $1,000 of coverage, they will be postponed.
  • All cases with a health rating of Table 3 and higher WITH a Flat Extra greater than $10 per $1,000 of coverage, they will be postponed.
