United Health One, also known by the national name of United Healthcare, is one of the largest health insurers in the US and one of the most competitive Virginia health insurance companies. United Health One boasts one of the largest provider networks in the country and greater portability of plans in case you move to another states (other carriers may discontinue your coverage if you move to another area). Their portfolio offers a wide variety of plans and deductible options for every budget. Your coverage can also be enhanced with optional riders to expand the level of covered benefits and deductible credits can reduce your deductible by up to 50% for healthy families! Their current offerings include:
Co-pay Select – The most comprehensive plan available from United Health One. Unlimited office visits with a $35 co-pay, prescription drugs and preventative care benefits are also covered before deductible with fixed co-pays. Deductible options of $500, $1,000, $1,500, $2,500, $3,500, $5,000, $7,500, and $10,000. Co-insurance options of 100%, 80%, and 70%. Maximum of two deductibles per family.
Co-pay Saver – Similar to Co-pay Select, but with limited benefits and some benefits are not covered. We strongly recommend considering other plans if your budget allows.
HSA 100 – A plan with a single deductible for the whole family and 100% benefits paid after deductible. Preventative care is covered before the deductible once a 3-month waiting period has been satisfied and includes x-rays, lab work, and immunizations. The plan is compatible with a health savings account (HSA) that can offer additional tax advantages that are not available with other plans. Deductible options include $1,250, $2,500, $3,000, $3,500, and $5,000 for individual coverage, and $2,500, $5,000, $6,000, $7,000, and $10,000 for family coverage.
HSA 70 – Similar to the HSA 100, but with benefits paid 70% after the chosen deductible until the “out of pocket maximum” is reached. Once the out of pocket maximum has been paid, benefits are then paid 100%. Deductible options are the same as HSA 100.
Plan 100 – Similar to the HSA 100. Maximum of two deductibles per family. All benefits (including preventative care) are subject to deductible. Once the deductible has been met, benefits are paid 100%. Not compatible with a health savings account. Deductible options include $1,500, $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, and $10,000.
Plan 80 – Similar to Plan 100, but with benefits paid 80% after deductible until the “out of pocket maximum” is reached. After the out of pocket maximum is reached, benefits are paid 100%.
Saver 80 – Similar to Plan 80, but with significantly more limited benefits. No coverage for prescription drugs, office visits, x-rays and lab work, child immunizations, spine and back disorders, mental and nervous disorders, and certain other outpatient expenses. We strongly recommend choosing HSA 70 or Plan 80 if considering this plan.
Optional benefits to enhanced your coverage include:
Unlimited prescription benefit – Removes the $3,000 annual prescription benefit limit. We strongly recommend adding this rider to all United Health One plans.
$25 Co-pay – Lowers the fixed co-payment on Co-pay Select and Co-pay Saver plans to $25 instead of $35.
Enhanced Supplemental Accident Benefit – Pays a lump sum towards your deductible for accidents. Great option for high deductible plans and families with children. Options for $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000 benefits. The benefit is paid on a per-accident basis for all covered members.
Accidental death benefit – Pays a fixed benefit if death occurs by accident while covered by United Health One
Term life insurance – A guaranteed-issue life insurance benefit if are insured by United Health One
