This is a tough question each person faces when they’re looking at a new insurance policy.  There’s so many variables to consider in your decision – premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, copays, coinsurance, and others factors.  So how do you know which plan is the right one for you?

Not only are there the specifics of the plans you’re looking at, you also need to consider where your health is today.  If you’re young and healthy, you may be willing to take on more risk with a higher deductible or out-of-pocket maximum and want to keep your premiums down – so you may consider a bronze or silver plan.

If you’re older and have a chronic medical condition and/or have consistent prescription expenses, you may consider a gold or platinum plan.  While gold and platinum plans may have a higher premium attached, they also feature lower deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses when you go to the doctor or hospital.
