President Obama signed into law last week a measure that will require changes to Medicare ID cards.  Under the new law, social security numbers are no longer allowed to be used on Medicare ID cards.  A new measure for identifying beneficiaries will be created – expected to be a random number and/or letter combination generated identifier, but not yet finalized.  Officials have up to four years to start the new ID process for new beneficiaries – up to 8 years for existing beneficiaries.
