A new issue with the Federal Marketplace has come up and it’s an important one. If you purchased both a health insurance plan and a dental insurance plan through the Federal Marketplace, you can be accidentally terminated from both plans when you are only terminated from one of them – regardless of whether your plan is being terminated voluntarily or involuntarily. This issue can arise whether you purchased your plans through the same insurance carrier or two different carriers.

This error is due to a technical issue in the Federal Marketplace’s system. If you are dropping one plan, but want to keep the other, you will need to contact a representative from the Federal Marketplace and let them know you only want to drop one of the plans (and not both plans). The representative can then create a health insurance casework system inquiry to the carrier of the plan you want to keep in force. Otherwise, you may lose both plans.
