According to a post on the Wall Street Journal website Wednesday night, July 22, 2015, Anthem is close to striking a deal to acquire Cigna. The deal, if agreed to, is believed to be for a purchase price of more than $48 billion (or about $187 per share).
The report of Anthem acquiring Cigna follows the recently announced merger between Aetna and Humana for $37 billion.
