Medigap Plan C is one of the most comprehensive plans available, covering almost everything Medicare leaves behind — including the Part B deductible. Note: Plan C is no longer available to Medicare beneficiaries who became eligible on or after January 1, 2020.
What Plan C Covers
How to Compare Plans
Because Medigap benefits are standardized by the federal government, Plan C covers the exact same benefits at every insurance company that sells it. The only difference between carriers is the premium — which can vary by 30–50% for the same plan and the same applicant. Working with an independent broker lets you see the full market and pick the lowest price for identical coverage.
Is Medicare Supplement Plan C Right for You?
Plan C was historically one of the most comprehensive Medigap options available, and existing enrollees who purchased it before January 1, 2020 should keep it — it remains excellent coverage. If you became Medicare-eligible before 2020 and are currently on a different plan, switching to Plan C may be subject to medical underwriting depending on your state and circumstances.
For those who became Medicare-eligible on or after January 1, 2020, Plan C is no longer available for purchase. Plan G is the closest equivalent, covering everything Plan C covers except the Part B deductible ($283 in 2026). For most people, Plan G is the recommended alternative. An independent broker can compare rates across all available carriers in your area.
Compare Plan C Rates From Multiple Carriers
If you’re eligible for Plan C, compare rates from multiple carriers to get the best price for identical coverage.
